Xiahe City is a Chinese town which is located near the northeastern
edge of
the Tibetan Plateau in Gansu province. It is essentially built around
the huge Tibetan Labrang monastery, which hosts more than a thousand
monks. At an altitude of 2800m, the climate is between chilly and
freezingly cold during 9 months of the year, but during the three summer
months the town turns busy and is full of tourists.
